Chronicles of
Aereth
Humans

General

Murian is the colloquial name given to Aereth’s indigenous species that is the closest to Earth’s humans in nature and evolutionary history. The name was probably given to them by Travelers (earth humans) to distinguish Aereth’s indigenous humans from themselves. The Murians’ ancestors were a gentle and shy lemur-like primate that dwelled in the forests on the southernmost continent, Lemuria. Other species of these creatures still haunt the forests and mountains in modern times. They are generally known as the Spirits of the Forest.

Note: Murians (Aereth’s indigenous human species) evolved from a lemur-like primate in lands of the on the continent of Lemuria. In modern times, Murians are virtually indistinguishable from Earth humans (Travelers). They can interbreed and produce viable offspring with Drakeri and Travelers. There are, however, minute differences in the DNA that allow the offspring of Travelers and Murians to form connections to the Ley from birth. Despite this, not all Travelers or Murians will be magical.

Classification

  • Human: If Aereth had the technology to test DNA, Murians would be virtually indistinguishable from that of homo sapiens.
  • Ethnicity: This varies from culture to culture and, like on Earth, ranges from white, bronze, black, and other variations.
  • Species: Homo Sacratus (Sacred Humans), Sifakas Lemurias (ancient designation).
  • Other Names: Murians

Basis

Each race, culture, nation, and faction of Murians have their own basis. We just needed an indigenous human race for Aereth.

Genetics

Average Lifespan: 100-110 years

  • Note: It is quite uncommon for any human to live to the maximum of 150 years. This is an archaic society. While more scientifically sophisticated than Earth of the same period, medicine is still quite primitive. There are Healers amongst the Drakeri, but they are not miracle workers. Dead is dead…mostly. Disease, bad nutrition, injuries, war all take their toll. Regarding the history section of a bio, hit the highlights. List dates of major events in their lives. It does not have to be written out in intricate detail.

Health

Aereth’s plants and animals are substantially higher in nutrients than their counterparts on Earth. This, along with the magical influence of the Ley, provides a natural extension of Murian lifespans. Instead of barely living to the age of forty, most of Aereth’s humans enjoy a longer life. However, on average, it is rare for any of them to live beyond the age of 100.

An added benefit of being indigenous to Aereth is the access to Healers (Drakeri). When a healer treats a person for illness or injury, part of the process triggers a reset on the cellular level by regenerating a cell’s telomeres. This can substantially extend a person’s lifespan beyond the average depending on how often they require a healer’s services. This is not a magical escape death option. There won’t be Drakeri healers everywhere and some injuries and illnesses can be so advanced, even the most experienced Healer cannot mend them. Regular physicians do not have magical healing gifts.

Appearance

Average human appearance with variations depending on specific ethnicity.

Magic

Limited: Some bloodlines can carry magical abilities such as some form of clairvoyance, prophecy, etc. However, unless Shadowtouched or Shadowtainted, only humans with Drakeri bloodlines can perform higher magics.

Affinity

Murians are generally considered to be Lightborn. However, they are also viewed as easier to corrupt. There are likely Murian factions or families and clans that are all loyal to Tar’garath and Lord Baara.

Magical Abilities

This will vary from character to character and will be subject to intense scrutiny by the game managers! Of all the bio sections, we require the most detail in this one. You will need to detail the character’s magical abilities, where they come from (i.e., Drakeri ancestry, natural gifts, Shadowtouched, etc.).

Limitations

These vary on a case-by-case basis. Again, we will require that reasonable limitations be documented in the character’s bio. Their abilities and the limitations need to be balanced.

Magical Views

A person’s views on magic and magic-users will depend on how they were raised and where they grew up. In most lands, Aereth’s humans follow The Faith and take a dim view of both magic and magic-users. Some are more enlightened. The same can be said of how they view the Ddraig (dragons). A majority view the Ddraig as benevolent and beneficial, some fear and hate them, still others consider both the Ddraig and the Morrighan (dragonriders) to be necessary evils.

Culture

Just as it does on Earth, Murian culture varies widely. You will need the documentation on the specific race and culture for these details.

Location/Population

Like with humans on Earth, Aereth’s humans have spread to almost every corner of the moon-world. Population drift started slowly, but then bloomed. Like locusts, human numbers soon overtook that of the Drakeri. Despite wars, plagues, famines, natural disasters, and other challenges, humans have flourished and thrived.

Background

Myths, legends, and history will be documented in the documents on each nation.
