At a Glance
Tír Ceilte was settled by the Sídhe, Gwerin y Môr, Drakeri, and Ddraig nearly twenty thousand years ago when their homeland was destroyed after the Shadow Wars. Over time, the Drakeri and Ddraig who preferred highly volcanic regions moved east across the Burning Sea to the mountainous reaches of Claen Gael. The Gwerin y Môr established themselves on the island to the south of Tír Ceilte though they maintained a close relationship with their fellow Llenan.
Geography & Geology
Size
- Total Area: 32,595 sq. miles.
- Total Coastline: 4677.1 miles.
Location & Borders
Tír Ceilte is a large island located to the west of the mainland of the continent of Cailleach.
- Northern Border: Sea of Storms
- Southern Border: Tír an Aigéan, Deepwater Rush, Duchy of Kilane (Kingdom of Brydd)
- East: The Burning Sea
- West: Tethys Ocean
Climate
- Mild temperate rainforest climate with mild temperatures and wet winters, autumns and springs, and relatively dry summers. Some elevated locations in the southern peninsula have the rare cold summer.
- During the years when the Ley are at the dimmest, the climate is noticeably cooler for most of the year and marked by increased deep, wet snowfalls.
Terrain
- The central area is marked by heavily forested mountains and deep, fertile valleys. The forests consist primarily of old-growth trees, both deciduous and evergreens (graysteel oak, elderwood, redwood, cedar, ash, fir, juniper, blue spruce, maple, oak, etc.).
- The central mountains and forests slope down to gently rolling coastal plains.
- The northwest coast is very rugged and rocky as is the northeast coast.
Geology
- Tír Ceilte sits where the Tethys oceanic plate is subducting beneath the Cailleach plate. It is highly tectonically active, experiencing frequent, mostly mild, earthquakes throughout the year. Every five-hundred to one-thousand years there is an uptick in higher magnitude quakes.
- The Tethys Mountain Range is volcanic as a result of the subducting plate.
Population Information
Overview
- Total Population: 2 million +/-
Note: Sídhe numbers are hard to pin down because they have scattered all over the moon-world of Aereth. For roleplaying purposes, we are only counting the Sídhe that have settled in Tír Ceilte and in other lands on the continent of Cailleach.
Population Centers
- The majority of the Sídhe live deep in the forests of Tír Ceilte with a few settlements along the coasts and interior rivers.
The Llenan’s homeland was destroyed during the Shadow Wars nearly 20,000 years ago. To the best of anyone’s knowledge it no longer exists. Now, the Sídhe and the Drakeri primarily reside on Cailleach, the western continent.
Sídhe cities and villages are called courts. A major city would be a High Court such as Annwyn High Court. While towns and villages are simply courts.
Annwyn High Court
Annwyn is a city-fortress built into the mountains of Tír Ceilte overlooking the Deepwater Rush. It is the Sídhe’s capital and the seat of their ruler, the Danu. It blends in beautifully with its rugged terrain and is surrounded by waterfalls. Annwyn High Court is well-guarded by the Dragonguard and a detachment of Morrighan from the siege on the western coast.
Airsailes Siege
Although the siege and citadel are occupied mainly by Drakeri and Ddraig, many Sídhe make their homes in and around the siege and its citadel. It is the oldest siege outside of Claen Gael and was named for the Ddraig empress who helped lead the Sídhe to their new homeland.
Bassilith Siege
Bassilith is not a true siege. It is a part of the Burning Sea super volcano and is located in the northern region. It is the primary Ddraig rookery which the Sídhe help guard.

Governance
Form: Elected Monarchy
- An’Danu (The Danu): Kerowyn Wintersong
- An’Dagda (The Dagda): None chosen.
The Sídhe's ruler is called the Danu which is also one of the names of the mother goddess of the Tuatha dé Danann which literally means the People of Danu. The ruler carries the powers of a king or queen but is elected to serve for life.
Note: In the Old Tongue, “An” means "the". So, An’Dagda is The Dagda.
There is almost always a male and female. A Dagda and a Danu. An’Dagda’s role is as the military leader of the Sídhe while the Danu sees to the day-to-day rule of the people.
Toward the end of the Danu’s life, the residents of each court and siege send one representative to serve on a temporary council known as The Calling. This council will then choose the next Danu. The Calling disbands once a new Danu is chosen and blessed. However, should the Danu and the Dagda be lost at the same time, The Calling will be reformed and will rule until a new leader can be chosen. If only the Danu is lost, the Dagda will temporarily rule until a Calling can form and select the new Danu. He must then offer to step down or, if asked to remain, he will swear fealty to the new Danu and she to him.
The Dagda is appointed by the Danu. Since it is a warrior role, there may be several Dagdas that serve during the Danu’s reign.
Ruling Structure
An’Danu and An’Dagda (co-equal rulers) can be chosen from any of the Sídhe social classes. Traditionally, the Danu is a Moonsinger (highest level of magical training or healing), and the Dagda is the most skillful of all the warriors in the Warrior Guild.
High Council: This small group changes in number based on the advisory needs of the Danu. They are just advisors with no true power. The Danu may ask one or more of them to sit in on Hearth-Keepers Council meetings and then apprise her of what was said and done and to advise her on the Hearth-Keepers’ recommendations. There are no class restrictions. If the Danu wants a shepherd to advise her, then a notable shepherd will be asked to report to Annwyn Court.
Hearth Keepers Council
A mixed group of Lords and Ladies of the Hearth (heads of households, clans, etc.) that help see to the day-to-day running of the courts and lands that fall under the Sídhe’s domain. Councilors may be the actual head of a clan or might be their appointed representative or ambassador.
Note: The Lord-Paladin of the Drakeri / Morrighan holds a Council seat. However, this seat is usually occupied by an appointed ambassador rather than the Lord-Paladin himself.
Guilds’ Council
The Guilds’ Council is a large body that handles making sure petitions by their members are heard at court and that members have representation. They do not hold any government authority outside of the operations of the various guilds (trades, crafts, agronomy, theurgy, etc.).
