Great Argali Mountain Sheep

The Great Argali Mountain Sheep (aka Argali) are a species of large sheep bred for the Knights of Mindolin to use while guarding the Mountains in Eastern Mindolin.  The Mountain Guard has hundreds of Ram Riders who have been trained to mount these majestic beasts, which are about six feet tall at the shoulder and can weigh up to 1000 pounds. 

Argali are able to carry burdens of up to 40% of their own weight.  They are slower than horses, but are better at climbing the rocky terrain of mountainous countryside.  Most Ram Riders can not afford to place armor on their mounts, but the wealthy Knights who act as officers of the Mountain Guard may have chain or even plate barding on their Rams.  Knights of Mindolin will sometimes bring Rams to jousts, which can confuse and even alarm horses ridden by their opponents.

The Crogan Crab

The size of large dogs, the Crogan Crab weighs about a hundred pounds, skitters at 8 miles-per-hour on land or 2 miles per hour in water, and it can break bones through flexible armor with its formidable claws. 

These crabs can operate on land indefinitely if they are regularly moistened by their owners, or up to 24 hours without a moistening otherwise.  The Crogan Crab is used as an attack-animal and animal-of-war by the military forces of House Crogan, and is unique to that area.
